Interesting. Surprising that the length is exactly 1000 meters, but okay. Radar, really? Should just have some superior cameras/sensor arrays that can create a holographic image from the light coming towards the vessel. Radar has to be sent from the vessel to the target, pings off that, and then has to travel all the way back to the vessel. Why wait twice as long for radar when you just have to carefully 'watch' the light of other vessels come towards the battleship? Secondary weapons? Use of missiles? What kind of weapon are the main turrets? Railgun, laser, massive missile launchers, or plasma? Defenses? Shielding? Armor (and thickness)? CIWS?
It also seems like the battleship has carrier capabilities. A major flaw, windows. An unnecessary structural weakness in space. Otherwise, a very streamlined/smooth looking battleship.
Fantastic design but.. powered by 150,000 horsepower steam turbines? 127mm turrets? on a Gallente ship? Your specs are rather misplaced, may be worth fixing or removing that erroneous data ^_^
Also noticed the lack of hardpoints (as mentioned in an earlier reply). This spacecraft looks a little too seacraft-like.. The main reason for the 16 turrets is to be able to fire one of the set of two at all times, in a zero gravity environment with targets all around you.
I think you understand concept enough that you could begin to make the corrections with out incident, though I'm not sure if the way you understand it is technically correct. Either way, it's close enough for government work .
One thing you may want to focus on first, now that look a your ship more closely, is make the bottom part of the ship feel more organic. Right now, it looks looks kinda edgy. I suggest you take another look at some Gallente ships. This video [link] does a good job of showing some of there ships, and showing the overall look the Gallente have.
One upgrade you may wan to consider is making sure the ship has the the correct amount of turret placements. In EVE, battleships models have 16 places to put a turret, which equals 8 High Slots. Each High Slot gets 2 turrets, which are placed at opposite ends of a ship (top/bottom or right/left) to insure proper coverage.
There are two possible issues I see with you model.
One is that your ship should have turrets available for all 8 High Slots. That means 16 turrets placements. Now, not all ship classes can equip turrets in all their High Slots, but the ship MODELS are made in such a way that (if a new class of ship was created that DID allow all High Slots to hold turrets) the ship would already have a place for the turrets to be placed. Right now I only see 6 turrets, which would only equal 3 High Slots. Now like I said before, not all ships classes can equip turrets on all their High Slots, but the ship model should have turret placements for 16 turrets if CCP decides your ship should have all 8 High Slots support turrets.
The second issue is your model's fire vector coverage (I think thats how you say it). As mentioned before, each High Slot gets 2 turrets which are place on opposite sides of the ship model in order to insure proper coverage of firepower. That means if one turret is on top, there HAS to be one turret on the bottom. It doesn't matter where on the bottom or on the top the turrets are place. As long as there is a turret on the top and a turret on the bottom, things are golden. The same holds true for turrets place on the sides of a ship. So, the issue that your model has is that, while you have 4 turrets on the top of your ship, there are only 2 turrets on the bottom. In order to insure proper coverage, you should have the same amount of turrets on the bottom as you do on top.
So, to narrow it down to one sentence: You should have a total of 16 turret placements prepared, and be sure that there are turrets on one side, there are an equal number of turrets on the other side.
I hope I explained it well enough to understand. I might have repeated a few things, but I has trying to be consistent. Hope I helped.
You are AMAZING RunicArbiter, this will be very helpful and just to make sure i understand it;if I have 4 slots on the top i should technically have 4 slots on the bottom? equaling 8 slots in total? with 2 turrets per slot? that would be the easiest placement of the guns?
Dude! I totally predicted your victory! Your ships are the reason I didn't finish any more than 2 angles of mine. After I saw your ship style was similar, but WAY cooler, I figured I wouldn't have had a chance. I'll probably still post my unfinished WIP later just for fun.
